SafeGuard Limited Warranty Policy
1. Tiered Warranty Coverage
SafeGuard stands behind the durability of our Canadian-engineered hardware with two distinct levels of protection:
- 10-Year Structural Material Warranty: We warrant that the polycarbonate panels and aluminum framing will not rust, rot, corrode, or lose structural integrity due to manufacturing defects for ten (10) years from the date of delivery.
- 1-Year Workmanship & Hardware Warranty: We warrant all assembly and moving hardware (rivets, hinges, locks, and clips) against defects in workmanship for one (1) year from the date of delivery.
2. 200 lb Safety & Weight Rating
SafeGuard covers are engineered for maximum safety and are warranted to support a static weight of up to 200 lbs without structural failure of the aluminum or polycarbonate components.
- Mandatory Installation Conditions: This 200 lb weight rating is strictly contingent upon the cover being properly anchored to the building foundation and maintained in direct, flush contact with the window well perimeter as outlined in the SafeGuard Installation Guide.
- Load Distribution: This rating applies to weight distributed across the structural aluminum ribs. Damage caused by concentrated "point-loads" (e.g., ladder feet) or high-impact loads (e.g., jumping or falling objects) is not covered.
3. Eligibility & Non-Transferability
- Original Purchaser: This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser at the original installation address.
- Proof of Purchase: A valid SafeGuard order number is required for all claims.
4. Specific Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- Improper Anchoring: Any claim involving frame warping or buckling will be denied if the unit was not anchored to the building foundation. SafeGuard is not responsible for the failure of the mounting surface (brick, concrete, stone) or the collapse of the window well itself.
- Extreme Weather: Damage from hail exceeding 1", falling roof-ice, or wind speeds exceeding 100km/h.
- Aesthetics: Minor surface scratches, water spots, or natural weathering of the finish.
- Modifications: Any unauthorized cutting, drilling, or alteration to the frame or panels.
5. Remedy & Logistics
- Remedy: SafeGuard will, at its discretion, provide replacement parts or a replacement unit.
- Shipping Costs: Per industry standard, the customer is responsible for all shipping and handling costs associated with delivering warranty replacement parts or units. SafeGuard does not cover labor costs for removal or re-installation.
6. Legal Disclaimers (2026 Canadian Compliance)
- Limitation of Liability: SafeGuard’s liability is strictly limited to the repair or replacement of the product. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to property damage (e.g., basement flooding) or personal injury.
- Statutory Rights: This warranty provides specific legal rights. For residents of provinces (such as Quebec) where the limitation of implied warranties is prohibited by law, these exclusions may not apply to you.
7. How to File a Claim
All claims must be submitted via email and include:
- Order Number.
- Installation Photo: One (1) photo of the entire installed unit.
- Defect Photos: Two (2) close-up photos of the specific issue.
